Reginald C. Adams

Reginald C. Adams is a public artist, social entrepreneur, and community developer

Reginald C. Adams is a public artist, social entrepreneur, and community developer. He is best known for his award-winning public art projects, which are strategically located in some of Houston’s most historic and under-served neighborhoods. His creativity and approach to his artwork is influenced by his passion for community engagement

and by his travels to more than 40 countries around the globe. Adams fundamentally believes that everyone deserves access and exposure to the arts, and he strives to engage the public in the design and production of his public art projects. Over the past 30 years, Reginald has facilitated the design, coordination, and production of over 350 public art projects and installations across the Houston area and abroad. These projects have been co-created with the involvement of more than 50,000 area youth, 100's of professional artists, and thousands of volunteers and community stakeholders.

The designs, motifs, and imagery captured in his work is a direct reflection of the communities and public spaces that the work is designed to serve. This approach expands the style, social context, and technique for the execution of Reginald's work into broad and diverse environments. Each project is unique unto the community itself. By placing the public in public art Reginald works to represent the culture, heritage, history, and social context of communities and shared public spaces. His intention is to transform these environments and civic spaces into cultural and artistic Destinations.

Wyntress X’ion

Wyntress X’ion abstract expressionist

Wyntress X’ion abstract expressionist who’s first canvas was her grandmother’s walls. This was a great outlet for her to express emotions and find her voice creatively. Finding new and innovating ways to depict memories from childhood as well as her culture, she has created a unique style. As Xions’ creativity evolved her works reflect her experiments with different mediums such as; fabric, canvas, oil sticks, acrylic, and spray paint. Her use of different mediums mixed with affirmations all to create a dynamic work of art for her audience. “I’d like to think of my style as an abstract variation. I consider myself a forever student, always learning from the past and present, drawing influence from both the living artist and those who came before me.” As a way to pay homage to those who have inspired culture, Wyntress X’ion uses recycled material; to tell a story of how the past and present are connected. Telling stories of the collective using relics that signify black women’s impact on humanity and black folk seeing themselves as art. X’ions’ use of vibrant colors invoked a positive energy surge for the viewer.

LaMontè French

LaMontè French is a self-taught abstract-expressionist artist

LaMontè French is a self-taught abstract-expressionist artist. The griot of his work is to give a compelling story of history's past and build a bridge to correlate with present-day times' relevance. "LaMontè" is his birth-given middle name and "French" stands as the torch to pay homage to his Creole grandmother. French's love for art began as a small child, with his father, who was a high profile athlete, serving as his first muse. He can recall drawing his father in his uniform with details such as muscle strands and movements, color patterns of uniform sequences, and even sweat dripping off the body. Naturally, his father was his first hero. French's mother's influence was through High Fashion and her flare for opulence, which created balance in his creative demeanor. French compares his approach to his work to the approach of his favorite philosophers, Erickson, Piaget, and Nietzsche. He then entangles the genius and freedom of creative minds such as Versace, Lagerfeld, Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and Virgil I blog. Their drive and passion, through fashion, inspire him. He intertwines these two worlds in comparison to a Jazz tale being told by Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Being true to the description, his two favorite Jazz albums are "Bitches Brew" by Miles Davis and "In a Sentimental Mood" by John Coltrane/Duke Ellington. French is the grandson of two military Veterans. Those two men taught him that his name and his content will be his lasting influence.
